For over 30 years I have spoken around the country, to all types of audiences, on topics relevant to public education and leadership in any industry. My style is authentic and pointed. I don’t waste words and am always looking for ways my audience can take away action items that will benefit them and the good of the whole.
I’m available to keynote, sit on a panel or moderate a panel for your event or your team. I fundamentally believe that deeper learning happens in an interactive environment, so I like to leave plenty of time for Q & A.
Mostly notably, I delivered a TEDxSeattle talk in 2021 that garnered over 2 million views on the international TED site.
SPEAKING TOPICS
I share my extensive experience in public education to discuss how our public education system can be improved to educate all students (particularly students of color who have historically been undereducated, marginalized and harmed by the public education system) and prepare them to create a world they envision. Topics include, but are not exclusive to:
- The importance of teacher training
- Equitable learning systems
- The role of standardized tests and alternative methods to assess student learning
- Recruiting and retaining teachers of color
- Why district and school leadership is the key
- STEM education for all students
I am an authentic servant leader – building quality relationships and working to ensure my team can be at their best. I share my methods with emerging and experienced leaders alike, discussing topics such as:
- The value of sharing your vision and hiring a team to realize it and make it better
- My journey to leadership (I was sometimes reluctant)
- Being a woman of color in leadership
- What it means to be a true servant leader
- Managing multiple generations toward a single vision
- Creating an inclusive culture where everyone brings their authentic selves & has a voice

I customize my talks based on your needs, audience profile and the expected outcomes.
I also leave time for Q& A with the audience.

In order to give depth to the topic for the audience, I prefer to sit on a panel of three (3) or fewer panelists.

Panel Moderator
I include planning, question generation and preparing panelists as a part of my service. I prefer three (3) or fewer panelists.
